Marcela Duran
Marcela Duran, renowned as “The Woman of the Tango,” and acclaimed as a master teacher, also the iconic performer of the Broadway show Forever Tango.
She has increased viewers’ interests in learning the tango through her presence and style, and is an influential mentor of many Argentine Tango teachers and social dancers worldwide.
She and her partner, Carlos Gavito, developed an unique and dramatically close tango embrace in which both dancers leaned forward against each other.
Marcela’s first connection with the tango was through her father, a bandoneon player, in the tango orchestras in Rosario, Argentina, where she was born. She has worked as a dance teacher for the Argentine Government, specializing in modern dance and tango.
She started to dance the tango in 1988 at Salon Canning. She has spent many years walking the tango and dancing with the great milongueros of that time and has absorbed and learned the essence of tango.
Fernando Carrasco
Fernando Carrasco was born in Rawson province of Chubut, Argentina. He took his first steps in the Tango in that province and when traveling in Buenos Aires, he enrolled in the degree course in folklore with mention in tango at the University Institute of Art.
During these years he participate in various companies (A steps of tango by Jonathan Spitel and Betsabet Flores, tango corporation students of Daniel Juarez and Alejandra Armenti, ballet mariposita of San Telmo by Francisco Forquera and Carolina Bonaventura, tango Porteña by Roberto Canelo)
Fernando is a three-time winner of the 2013 Buenos Aires City Dance Championship in the categories of Val’s, Milonga, and Adult Pista Tango.
During the last years, Fernando has been continuously traveling around the world, teaching and performing at international tango festivals, although his main residence is in Buenos Aires.
Sebastian Jimenez
Sebastian Jimenez is today one of the most renowned dancers in Tango Salon style. His professional career started when he won the World Tango Championship (Salon) in 2010 at the age of 18. In the same year he won and was recognized for his unique expression in Tango Vals in Buenos Aires Metropolitan Championship which made Sebastián the youngest champion in the history with both championships. Since then, he has traveled the world , teaching and performing tango with a focus on musical connection and authentic expression
Raquel Makow
Raquel Makow, born in San Francisco, California with a father from Buenos Aires and a mother from New York, began dancing at 10 years old. Dance was always something natural and essential in her life. She went on to win international titles in Ballroom competitions and danced in well known Ballroom shows in different theaters throughout the world.
However, it was at the age of 15 that she discovered her true passion in Tango and later on in 2013 that she moved to Buenos Aires to pursue her new dream.For the first year in Buenos Aires, she lived with her grandmother in a small neighborhood near the famous Club Sunderland, where she trained with Carlitos and Rosa Perez (among many other maestros).
In 2015 she formed a dance partnership with Maxi Copello, together they were 7 time finalists of the Tango World Championships, placing 2nd in 2020 and 4th in 2021. They performed in Tango shows in the best theaters of Buenos Aires, Teatro Avenida, Teatro Lola Membrives, Teatro Maipo, and the CCK. They traveled throughout the US and Europe performing and teaching at big Tango festivals.
Her most recent partnership is with World Champion, Sebastian Jimenez, with whom she will be based in Lisbon, Portugal. From the first moment they danced and taught together, there was an instant connection and a shared passion for the art of Tango propelling both of them to embarque on a new Tango journey together.
